Oh Newport

This morning Yas, Ann and I had a pilates class over at Equinox. It was mine and Ann's first time going, and we loved it! It was a great stretching, muscle strengthening workout. We attempted a basketball game on the court outside after our class- which was also heaps of fun. Me and Ann VS. Yas. Yas won. After the sad defeat we headed over to the steam room to de-toxify ourselves, then headed over to Roses for breakfast. We went healthy and had fruit and yogurt- and then went over to cdm yogurt to try their new almond flavor- very tasty.

Classes Finished

School's Out! Classes officially ended on Friday. We had June gloom, but hopefully by the time the graduation ceremony arrives - this thursday - we are just getting sun sun sun. On Friday we signed yearbooks, and talked about how good this summer will be. Its going to be the best.

Yas with her Urban backpack-the background looks like its Fall, no?

Sushi in Laguna

I, Ann, despise sushi. So when it was decided behind my back that everyone wanted sushi, they knew they couldn't tell me where we were going or I wouldn't come. They said the place was a surprise and that I would love it...I tried half a piece of sushi and honestly I almost couldn't swallow it down. Apparently it was good though because they all loved it.

Mosun Sushi

This was a nice little way too end the night. Ann and I had never tried the much talked about-pizookie. A pizookie is a giant cookie baked in a shallow pan, just enough so it is semi soft in the middle; right after it leaves the oven its topped off with heaps of vanilla ice cream. Everyone here in Newport loves it. The dessert isn't exactly my or Ann's usual style, so we were hesitant at first, but it was delightfully satisfying! Though, we did feel like teens in a small town somewhere in Texas that go to late night diners at 11 o'clock for dessert as a fun activity.

On the Job

We are here at work (The EarthBar). It's awesome because, how often do two best friends get the same job... & better yet the same shift?? It's kind of a funny story, how this all came to be. About two months ago we both were looking for a job on the same day, unaware of eachothers job quest. Both of us contacted the same manager who was hiring, and, after an interview, ended up landing a job at the same place! We also get free membership to the great gym where our bar is located - a nice little (150$ worth) perk that comes with working here!

Mmm... fresh juice made with carrots, oranges and green apples!

Açaí Bowls

Feelin' Groovy

Mmm...

Okay, so I'm a HUGE soup girl and here is one of my favs. This is the Tomato Bell Pepper Soup from Native Foods topped with a cute heart using creme fraiche! It was delicious!

I ADORE Native Foods. (If you have never been before, it's a vegan restaurant.) Im not a vegan myself, but I've gone to Native Foods plenty of times and have tried nearly everything on the menu. That said, I think the food is AMAZING.

Some of my personal favorites are:

Chicken Run Ranch: I recommend this to the Native Foods virgins, since it's a pretty basic "chicken" (made w/ tofu, beans, grain...) sandwich but tastes equally delicious!

Ghandi Bowl: Steamed veggies, brown rice, and curry sauce, and your choice of "meat" in this huge-ass bowl ! You definitely can't go wrong with this.

So if you're looking for a new food experience, make sure to check it out!

Laguna Beach cont.

Here are some more photos from our Laguna Beach trip...

We saw this really cool graffiti wall and had to take some pictures in front of it!

Laguna in the Evening

Laguna in the evening! None of us have been for awhile, so we went for dinner. Laguna is a really neat city, known for its great art and beautiful views. Tonight we took advantage of all these things, and walked around for about an hour before we sat down for dinner at a Mediterranean place called GG's. After a failed attempt to order wine (bitch waitress) we stuck with water and chicken shish kabobs, caprese salad, and the soup de jour - zucchini.

The weather lately has been gray, so the closest we got the beach was the top of a parking lot overlooking the        ocean.

Before dinner we found a pocket of shops off to the side of the road, where there tables with fires going that kept us warm.
