Riding the soundtracks

I watched Frances Ha today, and I must say I quite enjoyed it. I can always dig a good soundtrack. Here are my favorites

starter for 10

Everyone in the universe must watch Starter For 10 because it comes equipped with a fantastic soundtrack and a quirky plot despite its slight predictability.

A Good Thursday Ending

I had my first exam today in official PA school. Im currently rewarding my brain with some relaxing time. Portlandia is always the cure. Some Mac'n Cheese sounds pretty good right now.

Rack Rack City

Last Saturday me and the girls spent the day basking in the Central Park sun. We found the perfect spot out on the lawn, and enjoyed the much welcomed warmth. Between talking and resting, we ate delicious prosciutto and crisp great, watermelon, kettle corn, and chocolate almonds.
We stayed out til the sun began to fall. After feeling the Spring sunshine, no body wanted to leave.
Here we are making our way to Ladurée for Macaroons,at about 67th. Ladurée is located at 864 Madison Ave between 72nd St & 71st St. I highly recommend the chocolate.

Loyalty

In politics, one should never "meet with the enemy."
Hoffman on loyalty in the "Ides of March" (a movie from a few years ago in case you didn't hear or see it... watch this.)

And this is why a dog forever remains man's best friend.

Right in your spot, in Ear Park.

This won't be interesting... seriously.

I've been listening to cold wave music for a long time now and each song is beginning to sound the same.  I think it's probably time for me to explore some different genres.  But I felt a little depressed thinking about the numerous songs I've listened to on spotify trying to find that next album, artist, or genre that puts me inside my head for the entire time I'm listening.  We are all different (obviously) and a song can mean one thing to one person and an entirely other thing to another (enlightening, right?!)  Therefore, the song I am posting below might not mean too much to someone who's never heard it...   Then again, the music you listened to back in 2008 might mean a lot more to you than it would to me.    Music is how one understands and or interprets it for his or herself.  This was the one valuable thing I learned from my music class this last semester.  It has nothing to do with what the artist intended in the end, and has everything to do with how or what the listener takes in, ultimately giving it their own meaning.  Just like a beautiful painting or a slow thoughtful novel.  This is all pretty obvious, I just enjoy pointing it out.  Spotify being a wonderful application gives me every song and places it on a platter for me to chow down on.  But I became wholeheartedly fatigued of listening to songs that were good but not great.  So, today I watched the movie Blue Valentine and I was reminded of my love for the group, Department of Eagles, and I decided to go back in my library of music and rediscover the music that reminds me of old times and old places.  I recommend it for everyone regardless of whether you listen to much music or not.

This song and this movie... It's a must see for the realists and the romantics because it's real and there is nothing more romantic that believing in real love and there is nothing more real than a real love.

The Going Ons

Long time no blog- I have a lot of catching up to do, I know.
So, here is this video to help illustrate what I've been doing for the past couple months. A mix of old and new, really. I just touched ground back in New York from Seattle. I was staying with my family for about two weeks for Thanksgiving holiday- and it was so nice!
During my trip to the pacific northwest, I also took a trip to Canada! My mum surprised me for my birthday. We were in Victoria, British Columbia, which is this charming little resort town for Canadians- the temperature there is usually warmer and the sun shines for a longer time of year than in most areas of Canada. Its their 'west coast'.

Stuck Between Stations

Today was weird, my night was more or less a continuation of my day: movies all day, movies in the evening, moves at night.  I watched Titanic for the first time in years.  Yaddah Yaddah, love story, epic love story, forbidden epic love story, high love story society, etc.  The film, of course, is entertaining, beautiful, sad, and epic all at the same time.  It pulls at every human emotion which is said to be the most important aspect of a film: to make one feel.  We all associate these American films with our American culture because everyone has seen Titanic and if you haven't then you're clearly not from here.  After my movie marathon: Titanic, Jerry Maguire, Sex and the City, and sections of Flubber, I logged onto netflix and began watching Stuck Between Stations.

It's an extremely interesting love story because it was extremely realistic.  The characters, the storyline, the events.  Simply put, the film follows two people who used to know one another in grade school that crossed paths one night in Minneapolis now that they have both developed their own lives.  It's a slow developed film that keeps you locked in solely for the character development.  The love story is quirky and simple but at the same time develops into something more complex and realistic.  I love finding gems like these.   Love love love them.

How to say...

Some randoms from the past few days. On Thursday I took some classes at the gym- Fritz's mum gave me a week pass to her gym and we took a balance motion class, and I had so much energy I took 'body sculpt' after- it felt great!
Now I'm feeling the burn. Hopefully I'll be feeling fine to go to pilates  in the morning and if I'm really feeling up to it- Zumba after. We'll see!

Jim + Anne

Here's the movie I watched last night. The picture was beautiful and the overall plot line was really cute. It stars Jim Sturgess, and Anne Hathaway as a Brit- I wanted to believe it, but I just couldn't! Maybe if I hadn't known she is truly American then I would have.
The movie was sweet, but there were some sad parts. I wont give it away though, you should watch it. Thank you Ellen for the recommendation!

The Corner

Meet Me At The Corner from Nicolas Wulff on Vimeo.

Another video I really like. Behati + this video, amazing. I'll be going to bed early tonight; class begins at 8:30 in the morning and will promptly be followed by breakfast. Once we get back to the dorms I plan on seeing Love Actually- a Brittish romantic comedy for the holiday season me and Mar have been dying to see, but haven't found time to. I know Thanksgiving hasn't come around yet, but we just can't help look forward to X-Mas! Though, we look forward to Thanksgiving and Black Friday heaps too. During the movie we'll paint our nails, try next door neighbor Ellen's Korean goodies she brought back from home, and study for our upcoming anatomy test. We've gotten pretty good at multitasking-
